All members and guests must supply, and use whenever in the gym, the following equipment:
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN NEW FEATHER SHUTTLES TO EACH GAME
(see below for details about shuttle quality)
Participants must wear non-marking, indoor-only, court shoes.
Participants must supply their own rackets and wear appropriate athletic attire.
Ace Badminton Club participants use tournament grade feather shuttles. Look for goose, square-cut feathers with cork or cork-hybrid heads. These are available from all major brands as part of their shuttlecock lineup. They include:
Yonex: Aerosena 30 or higher
Victor: Master 3 or higher
RSL: Tourney Classic or #1 or better
Aeroplane: Black
Chaopai: Pink, Purple, Red
Li-Ning: A+ 100 or higher
Club supervisors store used shuttles from past sessions and for members and guests to use for warm-up.
To ensure participants get good quality games, the skill level of players is restricted by the club supervisors.
Based on the club Skills Matrix , assessed players must be in the skill level range between 3 and 5, with most club members at level 4.
Potential members and guests will be assessed by club supervisors between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. each evening.
Ace Badminton Club is for match play among members and drop-in players. Participants are expected to be open to play with a variety of other players.
Game format is single games using standard rally-point scoring (21 points, win by 2 capped at 30).
When there are fewer than 30 participants present, Singles games may be permitted. When there are greater than 36 participants, a game board system may be used to schedule matches.
Prior to their first game on a particular evening, participants may warm-up for a few minutes to readjust to the environment. Club supervisors reserve the right to limit warm-up time. No warm-up will be permitted prior to subsequent games the same evening. Participants requiring warm-up should attempt to do so in groups of 2-4 if possible, to reduce the wait time for others. If needed, there is plenty of room around the court for cardio or footwork warm-up.
At the end of each membership period, an optional tournament will be offered to club members only. The tournament will take place on a subset of courts during regular session times.
Official communication between members and the Club is using email.
Members must also provide a phone number for urgent text or WhatsApp communication, such as for last-minute university clusures due to weather or other facilities issues.
