ABC Open Tournament

September 30  &  October 7, 2023

Tournament Format

Main round + consolation round if you lose your first match.

Seeding will be done by the Tournament Committee.

Draws will be posted on Tournament Software prior to the event.

Play Format

Best of 3 games to 21, win by 2 points up to 30 max.

Warm-up time of 3 minutes from when a match is called.

Maximum 90s between games of a match.

Minimum 5 minutes break between matches.

There are no umpires or line judges.  Players resolve disputes among themselves.

Prizes

$2800 in cash prizes

~80 Victor Badminton door prizes to be won

Prizes and branded merchandise by Graphic i.d.

Ace Badminton Club merchandise & shuttles for sale (TBD)

Tournament Rules

Players must provide their own tournament grade (or better) feather shuttles.

Only non-marking indoor-only shoes may be worn on court, including coaches.

Wearing protective eyewear is recommended.

One coach per team allowed on-court between games of a match.

Players & coaches will exhibit good sportsmanship.

Spectators will follow the TMU Fan Code of Conduct.

Food must be eaten outside the gym (hallway or upper gallery).

Men's & Women's shower facilities are available.  (No lockers or storage.)

Registration

MD and WD registration is Closed.

The Deadline for MS, WS, and XD is Sunday October 1, 2023 at 11:59 pm

Each player must register using Tournament Software.

(Tournament Software step is FREE)

Registration is not complete until payment is received (see below).

Competitors must be at least 14 years old as of the tournament date.

This is NOT an Badminton Ontario or Badminton Canada affiliated event.

The entry fee is $45.00* per person per event.

Indicate the names of the participants in the e-transfer comment, or credit card "Participant Name(s)" field.

Cancellations prior to the Deadline are subject to a $10 service fee per event.

Registration for the, and participation in, the Ace Badminton Club Open tournament requires that you first accept the following.  A copy of this waiver will be presented during the registration process.

In consideration of Ace Badminton Club, I acknowledge, understand and I am aware that:

• Certain RISKS OF INJURY are inherent in participation in sports activities; these types of injuries may vary in severity and may result from my actions/inactions, or the actions/inactions of others, or any combination of both

• The RULES AND REGULATIONS posted within facilities are designed for the safety and protection of participants, and I am aware I am required to abide by these rules and regulations

• Certain activities require a minimum LEVEL OF FITNESS AND HEALTH and each person has a different capacity for participating in these activities.  I understand that I should be both fit and healthy to participate as the CHOICE to participate brings with it the ASSUMPTION OF THOSE RISKS AND RESULTS which are part of these activities

• I agree to WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS I have in the future against Ace Badminton Club and its members, officers, employees, agents, volunteers and independent contractors (all of whom are hereinafter collectively referred to as “the Releasees”);

• I agree to RELEASE THE RELEASEES from any and all liability for any loss, damage, injury or expense I may suffer, or that my next of kin may suffer as a result of my participation in the tournament due to any cause whatsoever including negligence, breach of contract, or breach of any statutory or other duty of care

• I  agree to HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY THE RELEASEES from any and all liability for any damage to the property of, or personal injury to, and third party, resulting from my participation at the tournament

• I agree to permit photographs and video to be taken which could include use for promotional purposes by Ace Badminton Club.

I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS AGREEMENT AND I AM AWARE THAT BY REGISTERING AND PARTICIPATING I AM WAIVING CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS (INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE) WHICH I OR MY HEIRS, NEXT OF KIN, EXECUTOR, ADMINISTERS AND ASSIGNS MAY HAVE AGAINST THE RELEASEES.  ANY QUESTIONS I HAD WERE ANSWERED TO MY FULL SATISFACTION.
